Woman finds 'boyfriend spell' in charity shop coat pocket and is stunned by requirements

Everyone loves snagging a deal - but occasionally you stumble upon far more than just a discounted handbag or collectible toy. That's precisely what occurred to one shopper who discovered a stranger's 'boyfriend spell' whilst browsing through thejackets and coats area of a charity shop.

Posting on Reddit, she said: "Found this in a pocket of a cost at a charity shop. Anyone know what it means and why it might have been there?" The accompanying photograph reveals a tiny piece of paper covered in Chinese characters. She went on to explain: "I translated it using an online tool but the translation wasn't great so doesn't really make sense!"

Responding to her post, users provided their own translations - and soon after realised the stranger must have been hoping a dishy stranger would soon come into her life.

One user commented: "In Chinese: 'I want to have a boyfriend who loves me a lot, cherishes me, is very generous to me, is very handsome, and is above 5'9 tall. I will feel very secure when I'm with him... I will be extremely lucky! Praise the universe! I will meet such a man in November of 2023! Please!'

"Seems like a manifestation spell. Hope they met their man!"

Offering their thoughts alongside a similar translation, another user remarked: "It looks like someone wishing for or predicting what they want.

"'I want to have a boyfriend who is very considerate, loves me, is very handsome, and is over 1.8 metres tall. I will feel very safe and very happy! Thank the universe! I will meet this boy in November of 2023! Please!'

"It's a Chinese New Year tradition. It seems that often, these are folded up pretty and burnt, but this one wasn't."

Pondering whether the love spell had worked on the thrifty shopper as well, one user enquired: "How much of the description matches you? Would be funny if the manifesting spell worked for the jacket itself."

She replied: "Haha, my boyfriend does love me a lot and is indeed very generous and handsome!

"But I started going out with him in early 2024 (rather than November 2023 as the note states) so don't think it was for me unfortunately!"

Meanwhile, others simply commented on how "cute" the concept was - and sent their best wishes to the unknown person in their hunt for their dream man.

One user commented: "That is so freaking cute. I hope the writer found their man."

Another user remarked: "The law of attraction."

One more user noted: "Aw, how sweet! I hope she finds happiness within herself and realizes that it can't be found in others!"
